Pre-K Curriculum & Development
GAP Community Child Development Center offers a free Pre-K program, with no extra cost for before and after school service from 7am - 6pm. To be eligible, children must live in DC & be 3 years old by September 30th.
GAP is one of only 30 child development centers part of the Pre-K Enhancement and Expansion Program (PKEEP), under the high-quality designation of the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE). Under OSSE PKEEP, GAP Community Child Development Center follows District of Columbia Early Learning Standards (DC ELS). These standards and curricula facilitates active learning and promotes progress in all developmental areas.
GAP utilizes Creative Curriculum Teaching Strategies and follows DC Common Core currciculum. GAP is also a NAEYC-accredited community-based organization (CBO).
GAP's evidence-based curriculum incorporates current research and best practices in early childhood education and child development-based curriculum. It is implemented through active and intentional teaching. GAP's curriculum is comprehensive and addresses the development of the "whole child," which is consistent with our philosophy and values.
